  • Description

Narrowleaf Blue Star (Amsonia hubrichtii) is a clump-forming plant that is loved for its stunning blue spring flowers, feathery green foliage and lovely fall color. Powdery blue, star-like flowers appear in terminal clusters in late spring. Feathery, soft-textured leaves are bright green in spring and summer, and turn a striking bright gold in autumn. Blue Star is resistant to deer and an excellent plant for attracting butterflies (particularly swallowtails), making it a lovely addition to any native, cottage or perennial garden. This plant has its most stunning effect when planted as a mass. The only maintenance to note would be the it can get a bit floppy once its flowered, so trim off the top six inches after flowering and it will hold its shape much better.
