  • Description

False Solomon’s Seal (Maianthemum racemosum) is a 2′ – 3′ tall perennial with a graceful arching stem and alternate, oval, light green leaves. It prefers medium, well-drained soil in part shade, but it can tolerate some drier conditions. It forms in attractive clumps, and the small white flowers that appear in the spring are fragrant and showy. These flowers attract pollinators, and the subsequent red berries provide food for birds and small mammals. The foliage will sometimes turn a pleasant yellow-gold in the fall.
