  • Description

Foam Flower (Tiarella cordifolia) is a clump-forming perennial which spreads rapidly to form dense semi-glossy, heart-shaped, sometimes variegated foliage. Foliage is evergreen in mild winters and in the southern part of its range, although it often turns reddish-bronze in autumn and winter. This plant’s name comes from its tiny white flowers with long foamy looking stamens on airy racemes in spring on wiry, mostly leafless flower stems. This is a good early season food source for pollinators. It’s also both deer and rabbit tolerant and coupled with negligible insect or disease problems, foamflower is a low maintenance addition to any garden. They are lovely in shaded rock gardens, borders, naturalistic plantings, in massed ground cover, or along stream banks.
