  • Description

Mapleleaf Viburnum (Viburnum acerifolium) is named for its strikingly maple-shaped leaves. They are found commonly on hillsides and in forests, and in landscaping they are best used as borders/hedges, and as a grouped shrub. This plant has multi-seasonal interest with its lovely white flowers in spring that mature into blue-black berries in late summer, and striking red-purple fall color. This shrub provides both food and habitat to a wide range of wildlife including butterflies and many different birds (songbirds, wild turkeys and more). They are quick to establish and can form thickets if not pruned from time to time. Overall, Mapleleaf Viburnum is a low maintenance addition to the landscape, with its drought tolerance, few pest or disease issues, and ease of care. Partnered with its abundant wildlife food, Mapleleaf Viburnums are winning plants for any garden.
