  • Description

Orange Coneflower (Rudbeckia fulgida) is easily grown in dry to medium soils which are organically rich. They’re known for their daisy-like flower with yellow-orange rays and mounded disks in the center. It is free-blooming when in full sun, but will tolerate some mild shade. The showy flowers can be used cut or dried. Can be used in a wide range of areas due to its tolerance of deer, drought, clay, and shallow rocky soils.

These flowers bloom in summer and fall, and this species hosts a wide range of butterflies, one being the pearl crescent (pictured above). Songbirds such as goldfinches love to eat their seeds, so you can even think about leaving the plants uncut in fall/winter to help provide for our feathered friends.
