  • Description

Redosier Dogwood is known for its deep red stems that add beautiful winter interest to the landscape. Small, fragrant white flowers attract many types of pollinators, and it’s a larval host to the Spring Azure Butterfly (pictured above). As it increases in size it will provide shelter and nesting area to birds, as well as berries for them to eat. To keep up the vibrant red stems, prune about 25% of old wood in early spring to promote new growth. Can be used as a hedge or in a rain garden due to its tolerance of deer and various soil types. You can’t go wrong with Redosier Dogwood, it’s as pleasing to the eye as it is valuable to the natural world.
